[A slightly fuzzy but then suddenly crisp clear face appears, looking into the screen with barely-there nervousness. He wasn't camera shy, but there were things out here that he should be anxious about being found by. Clears his throat softly before speaking, glancing off quickly to one side when he heard something move in the distance]

Ah, hello. My name's Eugene and I have a request, for any listeners out there...

[Pauses a second to gather his thoughts, brows knitting together as he gives a thoughtful look to something behind his portable... book thing. Tablet?]

I apologize if I've... wound up with someone's stolen tablet--

[Laughs a little nervously but continues on]

But I could use some help out here. Ah, I'll give it back? I didn't actually steal it, I sort of found it... out here. In the woods.

[And hopefully the owner of said tablet wasn't already dead. Hopefully he wasn't alone. The thought makes him swallow hard]

I'm gonna look for a stick in the meantime. Thanks in advance! Stay safe out there!

[Grins a little but it's obvious he's unsure, waving his fingers next to his face before cutting the signal]

[The way her logic works is one he could definitely appreciate. It's nice to be approached by someone and given the benefit of the doubt without sizing up whether or not they're going to steal your supplies and shoot you or join up and defend.]

Such a show made him apprehensive at once but he kept it neatly contained]

[Sorry for the paranoia, but there were reports of people being abducted and killed in his world with folks who seem like they mean well. Turns to greet him, waving]

Actually, all it's done is connect me to speaking with a bunch of people. And has some information about Malnosso people in charge of the place. I'm afraid even I don't have a tablet here.

Though at least you are familiar with what I'm talking about!

[She giggles. Well! People ought to know when they're great friending material.]

Sorry, not a clue about this "Vancouver". Is it a country? A world? I grew up in Amestris.

It's a province in Canada, part of the north American continent, the western side. Though... I can't claim to have heard of Amestris--

[Okay, well the name was familiar, but that was way too coincidental and it had to be he'd misremembered something from before the grey plague]

It's just where I'm from. I suppose it doesn't much matter given that everyone here is from who knows where.

[But what did this guy know, uh... time to get a time frame, maybe he's from a different time period?]

Do you have radios or cars? Er-- automobiles? How about indoor electricity?

Battles to decide the fate of the world-- sounds like a fairytale or an rpg but, hn....

[Speaks the last bit quickly, under his breath and mainly just to himself. He wasn't unfamiliar with them, but Sam and Maxine had made Jack fairly excited over them, so how could he miss the themes?]

The...grey plague is a... it's an epidemic where I'm from. Anyone who gets bitten by a person infected becomes a zombie. Doesn't matter who. It's changed the world. I really hope you never experience it.

[Admittedly, the formality with how he speaks is unnerving but he was... in need of help. Maybe he could be dropped off nearby...]

Fairly impressive, yeah. Hullo. I'm Eugene, uh Woods. I have a friend of mine coming to get me, d'you mind taking me that far?

[It would be rude to decline an offer for help for someone who came out here, specifically, on a nice horse and-- well, he looked like a busy guy. Points in the direction Loki came from, smiling ruefully and hoping this guy wouldn't smell the paranoia off him.]

It's just up that way, near a few logs.

[His smile is genuine, heard through the voice-- and he's put a little at ease about this whole world-swapping business he's been reading about. If there were nice folks like this around maybe he wouldn't... have to be on guard quite so much.]

[He is a little confused, but willing to go along. Maybe he had missed something, in a topsy turvy situation the likes he was in, he was not beyond believing that]

I mean, I know what a tablet is if that's what you meant. But I don't know you personally. Were you at Abel Township?

[The eyebrows go up slightly.] Yes, I know who you are.

Ah, you should have said if you had other help coming. Well, 'tis a nice enough day for a ride.

[Oh, Loki can smell the paranoia all right, and he finds it amusing.]

All right. [He makes a clicking sound at the horse, a hand gesture, and Vakri kneels down.] You shall need assistance, yes?

It does sort of sound like it doesn't it? ... But it was all too real for me.

[Well actually... it IS an rpg.]

Oh... Actually... there was something similar to that going around this Halloween from what I've heard from a few others here...

[Gets an odd sort of look and glances around briefly. Fear? Definitely. Swallows hard and smiles again, pleasant but with an edge. The resigned sort of edge]

So there are zoms here?

[Picks up without missing a beat, grinning ruefully and apologetic at once, even if he was trying to mask that still-present paranoia]

Yeah I just-- you showed up so quickly and it's a friend of mine from back home. Here unexpectedly, what are the odds?

[Reality had he hadn't heard a word from Jack, just a few others who he hadn't met before. But Jack wouldn't blame him for using him as an excuse to potentially save his life, right?

But wow, obedient horse, too. Bracing himself, he held a hand out for a-- well, hand, nodding as he was hoisted up and on with little struggle. The horse-- Vakri, very well-mannered.]

Not within the barrier no... I think... it was when some of the residents were drafted into a war the Malnosso had.

Oh, I'd love that! [In fact, she pretty much insists on it with her friends. She loved to see them in person, bake for them or have tea, whatever they wanted.] When you're settled, maybe we could plan to meet for lunch?

I sincerely hope they've gone. If they're still around it's better to be safe than sorry, though. I need to get myself to a secure location, so I will talk you later, miss!

[When coming from a zom infested world, one does not mince words or take chances if there are possible zoms about. But as he cuts video he smiles]

Definitely, we can make each other lunches.

[Lack-of-zoms willing, of course. Cuts the comm and tries to figure out how he'll get there. But once he's settled, Rapunzel will be one of the first few folks that he calls for lunch. Not everyday that you get to meet a fairy tale princess, after all.]

Oh, yeah- we've got all that. Though cars are mostly just in the cities. They're too expensive for the more rural areas, and a lot of the countryside isn't suited for the tires. We've got trains for long-distance travel.

I could do them out in my head if you actually wanted to know. [Loki smirks.] But sufficing to say, quite astronomical.

[Loki helps the mortal onto the saddle, then has Vakri stand with a gesture. A moment later he mounts up behind Eugene, scooting him forward with no apparent effort - Loki's much, much stronger than he looks.]

I've made it my business to be familiar with the terrain.

[Without apparent direction, Vakri heads in the right direction at a brisk walk.]

[In his head, even? Colour Eugene impressed. Both at the mental capacity but also the strength demonstrated. Though he did suppose he was a bit lighter, what missing a leg. The close contact caused his wings to bunch behind him.]

That's pretty smart. We had runners who would do this sort of thing-- well, without horses because they tend to be kind of resource intensive, but they'd leave to get supplies for the township.

[Glances over his shoulder, looking Loki over. He didn't... seem dangerous, but that still didn't have him lowering his guard-- at least logically]

So what's the rest of the terrain like? Hopefully not all woods...

[would give him the heads up on the location he'd ~~choose~~ been told to wait at... which wouldn't be too long.]
