I've heard of some doctors being located at the Battle Dome and I had questions about... things... regarding mobility, mostly. Ah, if anyone could get me in contact with a doctor there, I would really... really appreciate it. As some of you know I have some mobility issues and improving that would be...

[Smiles a little, wistful and hopeful but trying to keep it under wraps]

...It would be my top priority.

[Scratches the side of his nose with one finger and sits back]

I'll be honest, the thought had crossed my mind, but in the end it wouldn't make sense if you have them as pets, y'know? But fish... it's reassuring, really. Though why the hating on eels? Eel's pretty tasty.

I'm not sure. It could be the taste, or just the way they look? But all dragons from my world hate eels. It's kind of weird.

It is a little weird but maybe they're poisonous to them.

[Could be any number of unknown reasons, but being not dragons, they couldn't rightly figure it out, perhaps]

...So ah, how do you get around? I mean, strictly speaking, have you been here longer than me? I'm hoping to find a prosthetic of some sort, this crutch isn't very stable even when the ground isn't covered in snow...

I've been here for almost two years now. I was going on a pegleg, but...it was hardly ideal. [Painful and a hindrance.] The automail is going to take a lot of recovery time, but things already feel better.

Gosh, a pegleg... I could never get the balance for that.

[Pirates made it look easy, but given his understanding now, it really wasn't]

S-so you've already gone through with the automail, then? What is it, exactly?

[Recovery time was a given, and a sad reality for him as of now. At least he wasn't alone and had Jack to help him round when he needed. But Hiccup-- well, he was suddenly not only a kindred spirit, but a voice of experience]

Luke had suggested a cybernetic option as well...

[Especially in snow and ice. It was hardly ideal, but back home, he'd never thought of having something like automail.]

Yeah, I got it. It's a metal prosthetic that hooks up to your nerves so it acts and responds just like a normal limb. I won't lie - the operation was pretty brutal. [He gets a chill just thinking about it.] It has to be performed without anesthetics. And it can take years for full recovery. You have to learn to use your limb all over again. Even if I stay determined, I probably won't be in tip-top shape until next winter.

[But after that? Things would be so much better.]

I haven't heard about cybernetics though, so I can't give you any details on that.

[Some of the excitement seemed a little dampened, but... to walk again, without rudimentary replacements or the obvious questions and feeling less than useful...]

That sounds... pretty difficult, actually. Guess I have a lot to work toward.

[Though the challenge sounded more bearable, knowing someone else had gone through and was making their way to the top once more.]

How long ago did you get it? What's this Rockbell person like?

I got it in early December, so it's been about a month and a half for me. [So, not the longest stretch of time, but the worst was over.] Winry's great, though. She's reliable, kind, and she's got a steady hand. You couldn't ask for a better mechanic for automail.

D'you mind if I come round and see what this automail actually is before I go asking this Winry about getting some? It sounds almost too good to be true-- despite the cons.

Plus, it'd be fun to hear about dragons. They're pretty neat, but real ones, I'd like to know more about them.

[The people in Luceti came from strange and interesting places, Eugene would rather learn about the nice stuff than elaborate about his own. In reality, there was nothing very special about it.]

Wow, you have a dragon. That must be pretty handy for getting around, huh? What's its name? Boy or girl? Do I need to not wear something that shines in case I might attacked?

[Oh, yeah, that one little thing he sometimes forgets to mention. His dragon is here.]

Yeah, I have a dragon. [Pret-ty neat, huh.] He's named Toothless. Uh - don't let the name mislead you. He does, in fact, have teeth. Buuuuut as long as you don't bring any eel? You'll be fine.

Generally harmless unless you are of the eel variety? I'll bear that in mind.

[Just wait until Jack hears about this. Seriously, meeting dragons and their handlers-- occasionally it was very cool to be him.]

I could try to bring something he likes? Any special treats?

Any other kind of fish, really. He's particularly fond of salmon. Fish is basically all he eats.

Will do, let's see if I can't befriend a dragon today and learn what all this automail is all about.
