[Action | January 27th, Morning]

Food really had a way of drawing people's attention no matter what age they were. A growling stomach would be the first sound made while Eugene peeked out from the trees at this strange town. He didn't remember coming here, he didn't really even remember much of anything from a few minutes ago, a lot of it was fuzzy. But the desire to eat was real.

So he made it to this shop that smelled nice, watched as people came and went and got hot drinks. Hot drinks sounded good right now, it was too cold outside, so he made his way to the counter, ordered a drink, and went back outside with a warm mug to sit at a table.

His feet didn't quite touch the ground when he sat, but that wasn't unusual, he wasn't tall enough yet to have that luxury. In fact, someone might begin to wonder who this kid is that's arrived. His wings look familiar, black with blue tips, dark curly hair, brown eyes... drawn to food.

[OOC: Action and prose are both welcome. Eugene will likely be making his way around the town in small spurts in an effort to keep warm. Feel free to bother him

Sometimes it was an advantage to be as big and fast as he was - especially when he was amplified by pins - and sometimes, like today, it made him forget that he had wings on his back in lieu of focusing on a goal. He'd managed to save the kid from getting his face eaten off by pavement, but now Beat was gritting his teeth through the pain of his wings protesting the sudden shock from the fall.

"Yeah, ain't nothin'." He tried not to sound like he was squeezing the words out between his teeth, but he wasn't so sure he was succeeding. "Jus' take it easy still, aight? You ain't got a helmet on and you crackin' yo' head open ain't good for learnin'."

"Yeah.. I'm coo'. Jus' gimme a minute." Beat took the kid's hand and used it help pull himself to his feet. He knew he had a soda pin around here somewhere, borrowed from the others, he just had to find it. He didn't wear it often, despite all the scrapes he got into. His back ached and he rolled his shoulders and his neck, digging around in his pockets. The first two to come out were his Tin Pin Fire and Tin Pin Wheel pins and he held them out to Gene.

"Yo, hold these a minute."

"My pins." He kept searching, ending the explanation there as if it made enough sense on its own. He extricated a piece of gum, an old gum wrapper, a die, and then finally a pin badge like the other two that had a can embossed on it. "You ain't seen pins before?"

He held the can badge in his hand tightly and closed his eyes. He wasn't as good at this as Rhyme or Phones or even Shiki, but he could still at least eke out a little power from the healing pin. As soon as he closed his eyes - or rather squeezed them shut - he felt the ache in his wings start to dull and the power of the pin drain out. When the pain was sufficiently gone, and the pin itself used and needing a recharge, he opened his eyes and tossed it in his palm lightly. "Pretty handy stuff."

"Heh, yeah they are." He smiled wide and took the pins back, stuffing them into his pockets. It'd take at least half a day for the cure pin to recharge, a lot slower than before, but Beat never had paid much attention to those sorts of things. Even in the Game, Rhyme or Phones had done much of the pin wielding, leaving Beat to do what he did best: beat the crap out of everything.

"Sides, to use 'em, you gotta be dead first and I don't think you wanna be, eh?" Beat patted Gene on the head and then motioned to the skateboard. "Wanna go again?"

"Kid, donchu know not to believe everythin' you see?" Beat gave Gene a raised eyebrow in return and then had to resist the urge to completely muss his hair up. Kids shouldn't think about straightening their hair out. They were supposed to be unruly and out there scraping their knees and climbing trees (even if Shibuya didn't exactly have trees to climb, the point still stood). It rubbed Beat the wrong way to see kids being too much like adults.

"And I ain't a ghost 'cause I ain't perma-dead, but I ain't really alive neither. Been stuck like this for almost two years now, yo. And I don' wanna freak you out or nothin' so I ain't gonna do my whacko party trick unless you wanna see proof."
