This post is intended for anything that one could want to RP with Eugene.  Nothing fancy here, just a date, type, and place where you'd like to meet up with him and we'll go from there.  The only limit here is the imagination.

[Max just remembers how Jack had been during the week of Valentine's and well, he isn't sure if Eugene feels the same but some company can't hurt right?

He smiles when Eugene opens the door, and then holds out the box.]

Hey. Thanks. How are you?

[Taking the box, he held it aside while he moved to let Max in. Jack wasn't here, so the place definitely had a stark sort of emptiness to it. A lack of... liveliness. Which was reflected in Eugene, himself as he rolled himself toward the living space]

I'm fine, just getting some stuff done that needed to around here...

[Which was a blatant lie, but it was all social graces. The place was tidy and Eugene didn't have heart behind his statement]

[Max glanced around the almost pristinely tidy room and raised an eyebrow. Right. Jack and Eugene had more stuff than he did and it was still tidier than his flat.]

Yeah, I can see that.

Just thought I'd check in. I picked up pastries from the bakery if you want some. Got more than I could manage on my own.

[Action, February 28th]

[Peeking into the box, he smiled, spotting the pastries. The distraction was welcome, and he was pretty sure that Max wouldn't mind a tidied place. He was probably looking for Jack, anyway.]

Which bakery did you get them from?

[Like he wasn't going to share with Max. He'd already rolled over to grab some plates and cutlery. It was just the two of them after all]

Been meaning to scope out the competition...

Just the bakery, not the tea shop. Didn't feel like hanging around in town.

Oh? Got a plan to start your own restaurant? I mean, in fairness, the pies you make are pretty incredible.

[Opening his mouth to answer was stopped suddenly by mention of opening his own restaurant. Briefly, he considered the idea and took a seat across from Max]

Heh, maybe after I can walk again. It's something to work toward.

[Ah, flattery, it caught him off guard because he'd started to think about how Jack wasn't here to share this with]

Hafta make more than pies to be successful. I need more stomachs to test on.

[Max slid into the seat at the table, leaning forward and resting his chin on his hands.]

Well, I'm sure that you could find plenty of willing volunteers. This place seems to really like any kind of party that involves food.

[z_jay]

[A party... it might help to lift his spirits if he had something to do. But then he always thought back to what Jack might be doing-- working, risking his life, whatever number of things, and he stopped himself short. Maybe a small gathering, couldn't have everything he did hinge on Jack's presence or lack thereof]

Maybe some quesadillas, or something with a latin flare to it. Those are always popular at parties and generally tasty. Colorful, fun. Would be useful to control fire with magic-- could do some interesting grilling that way, yeah?

[Humor aside, however, he finally did let out a sigh and a tired smile]

So you didn't do the mission thing?

[abjurer]

Sounds interesting, certainly. I have no idea what those are but I'm sure they're delicious.

Ah, planning on putting on a show with dinner huh? As long as you don't want me to do the grilling. I'm not brilliant with fire.

[Ah, and now they get to the crux of the matter.]

Yeah. I... I'm not really the James Bond type, y'know? And I try to avoid physical labour.

They're-- you don't know what a quesadilla is?! Okay now I have to learn fire magic or something so I can show you with style...

[Really, the look of disappointment is on par with a paternal disappointment look. He would need to remedy this, in short order. But then they're on about the mission and he couldn't keep up the cheer]

Well, yeah, those are good reasons. I'd go, but I think the physical labor requirement would disqualify me. Otherwise I would have... gone.

[abjurer]

Nope. Not a clue. Please enlighten me. Although you can probably forgo the style when it comes to cooking for me.

[He hadn't realised that it was such a point of pride to Eugene.]

But you're here, so hey, you know he'll fight tooth and claw to get home.

... I just hope it's a simple work mission and he's not... gotten into some trouble.

[Because knowing Jack... or Jack's luck, rather, that would be the case and he didn't want to think about never seeing him again or possibly being here alone while Jack was sent back to Abel. Really, he'd work himself into a mess so he focused on food. It was better for them both]

They'revegetables with seasoning, ground meat and cheese all melted inside a tortilla. Are you staying? I'll make you some but you have to promise to teach me some magic.

[A suitable distraction on top of a distraction...]

[That was a worry. Even if it seemed simple, a war at all didn't exactly bode well.]

I'm sure he'll be fine, Eugene. There are a lot of them going and they'll take care of each other.

[The food was a better topic to discuss in his opinion anyway.]

That does sound pretty amazing. We don't... there's not a whole lot of food from that area of the world in the Commonwealth. They don't much like us a lot of the time.

If you want to feed me, I'm not gonna object. And I'll teach you what I can.

Sweet, alright, let's cover the basics. Just a small fire spell so I can cook without having to wait. It's really the only kind I want to learn, though healing magic is also good, huh?

[Secretly, despite his efforts to downplay his own skill, he would like to try his hand at it and see if he was any good. It could come in handy for any number of reasons. Mostly, he was interested in the culinary advantage it would give him]

[abjurer]

Um... [Max will look just a little awkward at his request for fire and healing.]

Eugene... I can't heal people. And I'm terrible at elemental magic. Like, embarrassingly bad.

[z_jay]

[Stops short and does a mental backpedal, giving a sheepish grin before backing away]

....... Well. Yeah. Sorry.

[Scratches the back of his head and kind of is at a loss now of things to discuss]

So those drinks, yeah, I maybe should think about those.

[abjurer]

[He feels bad for that but...]

I can teach you to talk to the spirit who can heal things though. Spirits are definitely in my realm of expertise. She seems friendly enough. And she can teach you how to use her power.

[z_jay]

[Shakes his head and tries to let it go, shrugging. As far as the mechanics of magic went he was clueless and he hated looking clueless.]

And the fire one? Familiar with that... spirit?

[abjurer]

No. But the principle is the same for most spirits, so whatever I teach you should work.

[z_jay]

[Licking his lips a little he nodded, frankly unsure about this talking to spirits business, but... if it's what needed to be done, who was he to judge?]

Alright, so what's the first step?

[abjurer]

Right, so, the thing with spirits is, they don't quite exist in the same reality as we do. So to contact them you kind of have to- uh, unfocus is how I think of it. I think... the way I told Jack was, have you ever done one of those weird pictures which looks like just colours but when you look at it right, it becomes a 3D picture?

[z_jay]

Oh-- 3-D pictures, yeah. I'm good at those. I tend to get a little bit like that looking at particular textures and the ceili-- ah. That is to say, yes.

[Babbling, while cute in some interactions, might make him look dumb here and he didn't want that.]

So I unfocus my eyes?

[abjurer]

Should have no problem then. You do that, let your mind follow it. Kind of detached. They don't have much interest in the physical body so...

[Briefly he gave Max a dubious look before settling back and trying to relax his focus, which was harder than it was normally, given how Jack wasn't here and he was... prone to think about him in his absence.

But after a minute or so he settled into something nearing a doze-- broken the moment that he opened an eye to peek at Max]

Am I doing it right?

[abjurer]

[Max watched him carefully but it was difficult to tell from the outside. He laughed softly when Eugene asked him that though.]

Looked like it to me. Now you have to keep doing that and just... listen.
